How I work

Simple process.
No surprises.

A clear, repeatable workflow that keeps projects on time, on budget, and with minimal back-and-forth. Here's exactly what working with me looks like.

Step by step

The full workflow.

1
Step 01

Brief & Scope Call

We start with a short conversation (or async brief) to align on your goal, audience, tone, length, and key messages. I ask specific questions that save time later — what does success look like? Who's watching? What action do you want them to take after the video?

Timing
Day 1 — kickoff within 24h of project start
Deliverable
Project brief doc + agreed scope
Your input
Goals, audience, brand assets, examples you like
2
Step 02

Script & Narrative

Before any animation, I write the script. Not a word list — a proper narrative arc. For SaaS: problem → solution → how it works → call to action. For education: hook → concept → story → lesson. This is where complex products become ideas that stick. You review and approve before anything visual starts.

Timing
Days 2–4
Deliverable
Script draft in Google Doc
Revisions
2 rounds included

Step 03

Storyboard & Style

A visual blueprint for every scene — layout, character positioning, motion direction, and key frames. This step eliminates surprises in production. I also confirm the visual style: color palette, illustration style, UI motion approach, typography. You sign off here before I animate a single frame.

Timing
Days 4–7
Deliverable
PDF storyboard + style frame
Your input
Approval before animation begins

Step 04

Animation & Production

This is where the work happens. I animate scene by scene in After Effects, using the approved storyboard as a guide. I share a draft cut for your review — not the final, but enough to see the full arc, pacing, and style. Feedback at this stage is structural (cut this scene, slow this down). Polish comes in the next round.

Timing
Days 7–14 (varies by length)
Deliverable
Draft cut via Vimeo or WeTransfer
Revisions
2 rounds on final animation

Step 05

Delivery & Handoff

Final delivery includes the master MP4 in 1080p (or 4K if scoped), source AEP file, and any additional exports (square, vertical, thumbnail) if included in scope. Everything is organized and labeled. I'm available for questions after delivery — no disappearing act.

Good fit.
Not a fit.

Good fit ✓
  • SaaS product teams who need an explainer for their homepage or demo
  • EdTech platforms building curriculum or onboarding content
  • B2B brands with a product launch or campaign coming up
  • Nonprofits doing education or social impact work
  • Teams who have a brief (or can write one with my help)
  • Projects where quality matters more than price
Not a fit ✗
  • No brief and no clear goal — "we'll figure it out as we go"
  • Consumer entertainment content (gaming, music, film VFX)
  • Very tight deadlines with no room for proper review rounds
  • Projects primarily decided on lowest price
  • Scope that keeps expanding after project start
  • Urgency without clear decision-maker on client side
FAQ

Common questions.

A 60–90 second SaaS explainer typically takes 2–3 weeks from brief to final delivery. Shorter videos (15–30s) can be done in 1–2 weeks. Longer or more complex projects (2+ minutes, character animation) take 3–5 weeks. I'll give you a specific timeline estimate when we discuss your project.
Ideally: your brand guidelines (logo, colors, fonts), a short brief describing the video goal and audience, any existing product screenshots or UI assets, and examples of videos you like. If you don't have all of this, we can work through it together — I'll send you a brief template to fill out.
Yes. Scripting is included in all my projects — it's part of the process, not an add-on. I write the first draft based on your brief, you review and suggest changes, and we finalize before animation begins. If you already have a script you're happy with, I can work from that too.
Two revision rounds at each stage: script, storyboard, and final animation. In practice, most projects use fewer rounds because of the upfront alignment work. Additional revisions beyond the included rounds are billed at a flat hourly rate agreed in advance.
Standard delivery is the final MP4 in 1080p HD plus the After Effects source project (AEP). Additional exports — 4K, square format, vertical format, GIF — can be added to scope. You receive full commercial usage rights to everything delivered.
Yes — most of my Upwork clients are based in the US, UK, Singapore, and Australia. I work async-first, with clear communication and documented milestones so timezone differences don't slow anything down. All project communication is in English.
